Services Mediation

Collect reseller events from various sources (network elements, licensing systems or applications) to drive reports or financial calculations within business rules authored by the CSD Rating engine.

The CSD Mediation module provides the framework for capturing and aggregating reseller events from multiple service lines. CSD-SDP interfaces with applications, operating systems, network switches, and numerous network devices to gather usage information relative to reseller activities.

Activities which have been harvested are classified, transformed, and stored for subsequent transmittal to downstream systems for rating, reporting, and operational support systems.

Unlike most customer care/billing solutions, the CSD platform is not a Telco product re-worked for the SaaS or Cloud services market. It is a product designed specifically for the ISV and OEM organizations to support their reseller channel.

FEATURES:

CSD Mediation harvests and classifies usage data for use by the rating engine for pricing services
Mediated data can also be used for non-billing purposes such as research, reporting, SLA monitoring, and capacity planning
Reseller events can be any definable event including a download, a pay-per-view event, a click of the mouse, an instant message, bandwidth and port utilization, etc.
Reseller events are collected through a variety of mechanisms including system log files, network devices, application messaging, hardware and software telephony equipment
A reseller event can be monetized though multiple billing rules, allowing a reseller to be charged a fee and a partner credited a commission
The usage engine was built to scale using a three tier approach allowing the network elements to generate reseller events under peak loads supporting 4 million events per hour on a single server. The CSD-SDP is hosted by Rackspace in a private cloud, providing support for hundreds of millions of events.
